Analysis of R and B magazines

R and B magazines always has a continuous theme throughout, they all have one main artist featured, there are no other images featured on the front cover just the artist featured. By doing this it has created a sense of importance for the main artist, by keeping it simple the magazine has been able to draw attention purely through the use of the featured artist. The colour scheme is simple, using colours that are simple helps make the bolder colours stand out. For example Billboard magazine highlights its simple black title by 'colouring in' the centre of the letters. This then becomes iconic to the brand and memorable by the reader and if ever seeing these colours in the same sequence will then unconsciously remind the reader that it is Billboard magazine. Red is a consistent colour throughout R and B magazines whether worn apart of an artists look  or used as text. In the Florence Welch article her red hair and lips is complemented by the red and white striped material. This is  then highlighted by the soft grey and black and emphasising the red and therefore the artist featured. The positioning of text and images vary between magazine and the type of article, however the main image on the front cover is consistent throughout the different magazines. The artist is always centred and is normally a half body shot, the position of the artist within the photograph varies but despite this it is always placed in the centre of the cover. Font styles differentiates throughout the magazines, they also change size and style depending on the purpose. For example on the Adele features magazine they use a bold and large sized font for the title as well as the first letter of the first word. The main story is always size 11/11.5 and the by line is also a little smaller than the main text.
