Music magazine timeline

1952: NME first issue released. Started as a music newspaper and then gradually moved towards a music magazine.

1967: Rolling stone magazine released. Rolling Stone was known for its musical coverage and for political reporting by the enigmatic and controversial gonzo jurnalist

1978: Smash hits first music magazine published

1984: Billboard advertising launched. Billboard is one of the oldest trade magazines in the world It    maintains several internationally recognized music charts that track the most popular songs and albums in various categories on a weekly basis.

1986: Q magazine first issue released.

1993: MOJO magazine first released. MOJO regularly includes a CD which ties in with a current magazine article or theme. In 2004 it introduced the MOJO's honors  list, an awards ceremony which is a mixture of readers' and critics' awards.

1955: Top of the Pops magazine launched covermount
